LiveScan and Ink Printing:

UMDPS utilizes a LiveScan digital fingerprint image scanner for applicant printing services.  When you arrive at the police station, you will be asked to fill out our Fingerprint Information Form.  The applicant’s information and fingerprints are printed onto the cards you provide.

Ink printing is available for applicant cards from other states or for cards which the applicant has already written their information on.  Ink printing may take longer to complete.

Hands should be clean, without bandages or broken skin.  If you have an injury that prevents you from rotating your arm or wrist, please wait until you can do so.

During the winter season or if you have especially dry hands, using water-based lotion prior to fingerprinting can help.

Without a wait or exceptional circumstances, fingerprinting should take about 10-15 minutes.  After printing and signing your fingerprint cards, they will be returned to you so you can mail them in for the background check or return them to your employer.

This service is first-come first-served.  Every attempt is made to ensure the quality of the image. Please give yourself a large window of time to be fingerprinted, in the event of high volume or exceptional circumstances.
