Steps for Safety |

Remain alert for approaching storms.

Listen to local radio (1640 or 1500 AM)

Be prepared to move to shelter.

Take shelter at once in a basement or the
lowest level of a brick building.

Do not use elevators.

Stay away from windows and glass.

| Tornado Watch |
| A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for a tornado in our area. |
| Tornado Warning |
| A tornado warning means a tornado has been sighted or is indicated by weather radar and the Early Warning System will sound. |
| If You’re Indoors When a Tornado Approaches: |
| Go to an interior hallway in the basement or lowest level of the building. DO NOT pull the fire alarm. Stay away from windows and glass. Move outside when the storm has passed and you have been alerted to do so by a short siren blast. |
| If You're Outside When a Tornado Approaches: |
If possible, get inside a building at once. If you can’t get to shelter, lie in a ditch or
low lying area. Be aware of the potential for flying debris and flooding and stay away from glass, small buildings, and fencing. If you are in a vehicle get out and into a building or, if there is no time, lie in a ditch or other low lying area. |

1640 AM Radio Station The Campus Informational Radio System message will broadcast a message alerting the community why the Early Warning System has been activated and
what basic actions should be taken. |

| 88.1 FM WMUC Radio Station WMUC Radio will broadcast information alerting the community why the Early Warning System has been activated and what basic actions should be taken. |
| |
| Campus Cable Channel 76 Campus Cable Channel 76, TerpTV, will be updated to inform the community why the Early Warning System has been activated and what basic actions should be taken. |

Siren Tones |
| Emergencies: |
| A steady tone that will sound for at least three minutes. |
| All Clear: |
| One short blast that will sound for less than 30 seconds. |
| Locations |
Early Warning System Siren Locations Sirens are mounted on the roof of the Benjamin Building Computer and Space Science Building and the Service Building located along US Route 1. |
| Siren Testing |
Siren Testing Monthly Test Weekly Test 1st Wednesday of the Month @ 11:55 am
30 Second Test Every Wednesday at 5:00 pm Barely Audible “Groan Test” 5-10 seconds of sound |
| The Sirens will be loud enough to alert the entire University and areas contiguous to the University where many in our community live and study. |
